Our Biggest Year Ever – For Charitable Donations

In past years we have asked our employees to make donations to local charitable organizations that they chose, both monetary and goods. At the beginning of 2021 with no vaccinations yet available we knew we still wanted to make an impact and support our community, because many organizations needed help now more than ever. Since we couldn’t get out and make donations of time and goods, we asked each of our employees to come up with a charity that is important to them. All year long we made donations to charitable organizations which support our community.

We kicked off our giving with a donation to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The LLS provides assistance to those affected by these diseases in order to improve the quality of life of patients and their families. @llsusa

Next we donated to Downtown Streets Team in Hayward. Their program has the inherent public benefit of a cleaner community as Team Members engage in beautification projects such as street cleaning and creek restoration through our Award-Winning Work-First Model. @streetsteam

On to the Children’s Book Project. The Children’s Book Project is committed to closing the opportunity gap and lifting up our community by raising readers. Literacy attainment is directly tied to academic achievement and lifetime outcomes, yet children in economically disadvantaged communities do not have the same access to books as their more affluent peers.  @childrensbookprojectsf

Then it was the Dogwood Animal Rescue Project. Dogwood Animal Rescue Project (DARP) is a unique, non-profit animal-rescue organization located in Sonoma County, CA. They are foster-based, meaning animals are not held in a shelter but are cared for in the homes of volunteers until adopted. @dogwoodanimalrescue

We continued with Lifelong Medical Care. LifeLong Medical Care provides high-quality health, dental, and social services to underserved people of all ages; creates models of care for the elderly, people with disabilities and families; and advocates for continuous improvements in the health of our communities.  @lifelongmedicalcare

We kept rolling with Autism Speaks. Autism Speaks is dedicated to promoting solutions, across the spectrum and throughout the life span, for the needs of individuals with autism and their families. They do this through advocacy and support; increasing understanding and acceptance of people with autism; and advancing research into causes and better interventions for autism spectrum disorder and related conditions.  @autismspeaks

Seeing so many of our own clients being affected by the raging California wildfires we then donated to the California Fire Foundation. The Foundation supplies emergency support to departments and families of firefighters killed in the line of duty and provides educational assistance to the children of fallen firefighters through the California. Formed in 1987 by California Professional Firefighters, the California Fire Foundation’s mandate includes an array of survivor and victim assistance projects and community initiatives. @cafirefound

Another worthy donation was made to the Autism Society of America. The Autism Society of America has been improving the lives of all affected by autism for over 50 years and envisions a world where individuals and families living with autism are able to maximize their quality of life, are treated with the highest level of dignity, and live in a society in which their talents and skills are appreciated and valued. @autismsociety

Our very own veteran in the office chose Shelter to Soldier. Shelter to Soldier is a nonprofit organization that adopts dogs from local shelters and trains them to become psychiatric service dogs for post-9/11 combat veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and/or other psychological injuries associated with traumatic service experiences. @sheltertosoldier

After all of that, as the end of 2021 came near, we made donations to several of the charities that we’ve supported for many years. Those donations went to The Alameda County Community Food Bank @alameda-county-community-food-bank, Shelter, Inc. @shelterinc_ca, and Volunteers of America for Forster A Dream @volunteers_of_america. It feels amazing to know that we are supporting our community and the organizations that are important to our employees. Throughout 2021 we donated to 12 different non-profit organizations. We couldn’t have done it without the support of all our clients. Stay tuned for what we can do in 2022.
